The most obvious accomplishment Friday was the installation of the bathtub. The pex lines for the water supply were also installed and pressure tested for leaks. The exterior wall has been insulated and sealed with vapour barrier. And some OSB has started going up. The OSB will serve as a backerboard for the acrylic (I think) sheets that will be the wall and ceiling surface.
The bathroom should be completely finished by Tuesday, at which time the gutting will start on the main floor. So far, I have noticed one minor problem. Well, it’s not really “minor” because the electrical will not pass inspection unless it’s fixed, but it is a simple fix at this early stage. The wall switches for the fan and the light are located right next to the tub when, by code, they need to be at least 3 feet away. The simple solution will be to turn the device box around and locate the switches outside the bathroom. It’s hard to believe none of us noticed this problem until now. That will be fixed on Monday.
The tub has been installed.
With no construction taking place on the weekend, we will be making another trip to Home Depot to pick out our flooring materials for the main floor and the wall tiles for the main bathroom. Then we have the rest of the weekend to finish moving stuff out of the bedroom and setting up our temporary sleeping area in the family room.
