Holy crap are we in debt….

Saturday, 11 August 07

I’ve done the math and it ain’t pretty.  I’ve been pretty much in denial about just how much debt we have accumulated over the last couple of years.  I was doing a pretty good job knocking some of the debt down, but with the recent addition of the plumbing bill to our low interest credit card, the amount we owe has sky-rocketed.  The reality hit me when I tried to figure out a time-line for our next major renovation expenditure.  Looks like we will be eating a lot of penne for a while so we can be more aggressive with our bill payments.  Once winter hits and the amount of gas we use is much lower than last year, the gas company will substantially lower our budget payment which will increase our cash flow.  In the mean time, we will be keeping a lid on our discretionary spending.  That means my daughter will be waiting a little longer before she can move into her new bedroom.  Oh well, it’s already been over four years.  What’s another couple of months?

  1. Wow…I know the feeling. We are over budget and no where near complete. The only thing we’ve got going for us is no gas bills in the winter, it is 85 degrees almost everyday…all winter long. Our bills come in the form of Air Conditioning bills in the summer…but we can’t quite afford to drop the coin on units for the new house…besides, fans keep the mosquitoes off of you while we are sleeping (we haven’t quite gotten to the screens yet either).
