It’s finally happening. The plumber has been working on our gas hot water heating system for two days now and things are progressing nicely. This was not a DIY job. In fact, the previous owner had messed with the system which is why it was so messed up to begin with. Sometimes it is necessary to call in the pros this was one of those times.
On Monday, he removed all the old pipes, disconnected some gas lines that we no longer want or need, and began piping the new system. Today, he finished most of the loop that will serve the main floor, and ran another loop up to the guest room on the second floor. On Monday, I spent quite a bit of time helping him out, and moving my boxes and tools around the basement to keep them out of his way. If there was any time I wish I had a garage…. Today, among other things, I built a supporting wall under the stairs to support the landing at the back door. It was previously supported in the one corner by a twisted 2×4. That 2×4 has been replaced by a very strong wall that will also serve as a mounting surface for all the pumps that we need for the multiple heating zones. I have pictures. I just don’t feel like uploading them right now. I’m exhausted. Cheers!
